About This Route
The World Islands are 300 man-made islands arranged in a world-map pattern, located 4km offshore and accessible only by yacht. The round trip covers 25-30 nautical miles in 4-6 hours including swimming stops. Water clarity between the islands is the best near Dubai due to distance from shore runoff, with visibility often exceeding 5 metres over sandy seabed. Lebanon Island has a beach club with day passes bookable 24 hours ahead, and the Heart of Europe cluster has themed resort hotels opening progressively. A yacht of 60ft or larger is recommended for the 30-minute open-water crossing, which can be rough in north winds. Captains check conditions before committing to the route. Once inside the archipelago, the islands create natural windbreaks and calm lagoons. Morning departures return in time for sunset at the Palm, combining both experiences.
The Journey
Depart from Palm Jumeirah or Dubai Marina. Cruise to The World, navigating between the island clusters. Anchor for swimming and water activities in protected lagoons. Some islands offer beach club access. Return via the Palm for sunset.
Best Time
Morning departure (9-10 AM) for full day experience

Sea Conditions & Seasickness Guide
~ Calm Waters
- Between the island clusters — protected from major swells
- Lebanon Island beach club area
- Inner lagoons of Heart of Europe
- Close to shore on any island's leeward side
^ Potentially Choppy
- Open water between mainland and World Islands — 30-min crossing
- Eastern edge of the archipelago — exposed to Gulf
- Near shipping lanes if wind is strong
Wind Factors
The crossing is fully exposed. North winds push waves directly at you. Once inside the archipelago, islands create shelter. Captains check conditions before committing.

Seasickness Prevention Tips
Take medication before departure — the open water crossing affects many people. The reward (calm islands) is worth it. If prone to seasickness, consider a 6+ hour trip with longer island time and calmer return journey in the evening.
